Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog Hop

Hello, Friends. Today the Magnolia-licious Challenge Team is joining the Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge Team in a fun and festive Blog Hop! We have two options for the Hop and you can participate in either or both. Diana is offering $50 gift certificates in her store, one for each winner.

Here are the options:

1. Hop with us and create a fun Interactive Holiday Tag for the Challenge. Link it up at the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog.

2. Hop with us to each of the Design Team blogs for a Scavenger Hunt to find and count all the candy canes in their main photo and email the number you found to Suzanne Dean at sjdean0574@yahoo.com.

You have until December 29th to complete either one or both challenges.

Without further ado…I am so excited to share my interactive tags with you. I created Wine Bottle Tags that have a pullout tag on the top.

Here’s a photo of the tag on the bottle completely closed. This tag features the adorable “Tilda with Tag Gifts.” So fitting that I used this sweet little lady don’t you think?

Then when you pull the tag up---it reveals a place for the sender and recipient on the top portion and festive song titles on the bottom. So fun, right? These are simple slider cards with a twist of adding a tag at the top to pull and a strip of ribbon for hanging onto a bottle. I loved creating this and my daughter saw it and asked me to make one for her White Elephant gift for her holiday party at work.

So here is another Interactive Wine Bottle tag that I made for her featuring "Edwin with Sack." I purchased two of these stamps at Diana's store and I'm giving my extra away along with "Tilda with Hearts" as a Birthday celebration candy which you can find HERE.

Here’s the tag open.

For all the details on the Blog Hop, how to play along, and the prizes being offered, please visit the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog. If you're hopping, then you've arrived here from Mary’s Blog and you’re on the right track. If you need to start at the beginning, go HERE.

Below is a list of my Design Teammates in Blog Hop order in case you need it.

I hope you enjoyed all the fun creativity so far. Your next stop is the very lovely and talented SHARON.

Hope you join us for the fun.

Diana has so many awesome Maggie stamps, tons of dies, papers, and other goodies in her store. She also carries the Magnolia Ink Magazine and the new Christmas edition includes a new stamp, so don’t miss out on these, they won’t last. There are some new Doohickey dies from “A Christmas Story” collection so hop over and get yours before they are all gone. If you haven’t seen the *NEW* “Nativity” Collection you can see all of the lovely stamps in the store HERE. The Magnolia-licious Design Team has colored images from these two collections and they are featured in the store. Fabulous job, Ladies!

My card for this challenge features the adorable “Jingle Jangle Tilda” from “A Christmas Story” Collection. I created an Advent Calendar card design that was featured by Norma. I just adore her artwork and creativity which is inspiring to me, so I want to grow up to be like her Winking smile. Norma was kind enough to share the card template she used for these Advent Calendars on her blog HERE. My cardstock base and mats are from Bazzill and I used some cute pink and blue digi papers called Santa’s Sleigh by Carina Gardner that I got from Jessica Sprague’s website a couple years ago. I don’t often use digital papers for my cards but these were perfect for the color theme and I had already colored my image before choosing my papers. Smile with tongue out When I printed them off they matched my colored Tilda perfectly, I was so delighted.

Tilda’s frame is a free Cameo cutting file. I used a little flock from Doodlebug Designs for her hat trim and the bells and buttons got a coat of Glossy Accents. I distressed the edges of my DPs with Brushed Corduroy distress ink as well as my date panels. I used the Slender Firs die cuts from Magnolia cut in blue and pink CS and covered with Martha Stewart glitter. The glitter really pops if you use similar colored CS as your base instead of white. I added some MME turquoise rhinestones to the corners of my motif panel. My flowers are from WOC and I added several spruce leaves from a Marianne Designs die cut. The Baker's Twine is from Doodlebug Designs with bells at the ends of the bow. I finished it off with a Whimsy Stamps sentiment and bound the date numbers with my Bind-It-All.

Here’s a close up of Tilda.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

Hello, Friends and Happy Hump Day! The Midweek Magnolias Design Team has a new challenge for you and we are continuing with our Christmas Challenges before we go on break. This week our Christmas theme is “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.” We want to see White-on-White cards or projects or lots of snow but your card/project should be mostly white.

Hop over to Midweek Magnolias for inspiration from the DT’s gorgeous creations and leave some love on their blogs. When you join us for the challenge you’ll have a chance to win a fabulous mystery prize from Magnolia Sweden.

I have to be honest; white-on-white is a challenge for me because I’m drawn to bold colors. But I had a go at this technique and really enjoyed making this card. I also probably took the white-on-white to the extreme as I think literally. I photographed my card with a colored background so that it wouldn't get lost and it makes a better impact.

I used Bazzill smooth cardstock for most of my elements. My card base is a Cameo cutting file called Nested Tag Frames by Alaa K. I cut two sizes and distressed them with SU Marina Mist ink. The large frame was horizontally scored in the middle to allow my card to stand on its own.

The smaller frame has several snowflakes stamped with Marina Mist and serves as the base for “Snowy Tilda" from A Christmas Story Collection. I colored her with Copics and gave her dress a snowflake pattern with my ultra-fine Sharpie Poster Paint Pen. I used the neutral tone Copic colors to shade the penned areas that have shadows. For Tilda’s scarf, mittens, and boots I applied some white Sparkly Fluff for texture and I left her mittens fingerless just to be a little different. Her snowflake is covered with Viva Décor Pearl Pen in Ice White and Stardust Stickles.

The other die cuts I used are by Magnolia, Marianne Designs and Memory Box. The Snowflake dies are new this year from Magnolia’s A Christmas Story Collection. The 3D Poinsettias by “A Little Hut” were cut with my Cameo and embellished with gold pearls. Some of these elements were also distressed with Marina Mist. Finally, I added a few white pearls to my rolled roses and snowflakes, a lace bow with a ribbon slide and some white feathers.

Here’s a close-up of Tilda.

Supplies
Ink: Marina Mist, Stampin’ Up; Tuxedo Black Memento
Cardstock: Smooth White, Bazzill
Dies: Magnolia, Marianne Designs, Memory Box

Ribbon Slide: HOTP

I Brake for Angels

Hi, Braker Fans. I have a new project to share with you as my DT assignment for I Brake for Stamps. This is a short post as I am really busy this week and need to tend to family and work matters. So please forgive me for not sharing as much information about this project as I usually do.

This is a tag that I created for a Christmas gift. It features a cute image called “Child Angel.” This digi was available a few weeks back as a Friday Freebie in the IBFS store and I snatched him up because he is so cute. Plus he is a great inspirational image for Christmas. I say “he” because he looks so much like a little boy with unruly hair.

You can get this stamp and so many others at I Brake for Stamps online store. Use my coupon code SAVE10CATHY for 10% off your purchase.

See you next time…

My card for this challenge features the sweet “Pixie Tilda masked with Snowy Roof” from “A Christmas Story” Collection. I created a scalloped circle easel card with Bazzill cardstock and a cute festive paper from BoBunny’s Mistletoe collection. I colored my images with Copics to fit the red, white and gold color theme. I also added some gold Stickles to Tilda’s stocking cap and stardust Stickles to the snow of my roof.

My snowflake doily die cut is from Sizzix and I cut it in three sections to run it through my Xyron sticker maker and covered it with gold glitter. I repeated the same with my new Magnolia “Slender Firs” die cuts in gold, red and white glitter. The sentiment is from Hero Arts stamped on the new Magnolia “Christmas Tags” die cut and edged with gold Stickles. I finished the front of my card with a bouquet of rose buds from Wild Orchid Crafts and a ribbon bow from American Crafts.

My card features a darling new release by Chelsea Le Designs. These stamps are just so cute. You have to go check them out at the store. You can get 10% off by using my coupon code that I’ve shared at the end of this post.

This stamp is called “Wrapping Gift Cammy.” I used some festive papers from Bo Bunny’s Mistletoe Collection and my cardstock is Bazzill. I colored my image with Copics and gave her ribbon a coat of Xmas Red Stickles.  I stamped the edge of her frame with a leaf border stamp from Hero Arts and added some tiny pearls with my red Liquid Pearls from Ranger. Then I adhered her to a Spellbinders scalloped frame.

The die cut holly leaf is from Marianne Designs and I added a few red rhinestones from Recollections as the holly. The Ornament border die cut is from Whimsy Stamps. I cut the Ornament border in 3 colors of cardstock for interest. My flowers are from WOC.

The inside of my card has repeating elements from the front and I stamped a “Merry Christmas” sentiment from Hero Arts.

Midweek Magnolias - Winter Wonderland

Hello, Friends and Happy Hump Day! The Midweek Magnolias Design Team has a new challenge for you and with the start of November we are celebrating with a new Christmas Challenge every week before we go on break. This week our Christmas theme is “Winter Wonderland” so I hope you join in for the fun and get all those Christmas cards done.

Hop over to Midweek Magnolias for some lovely inspiration from the DT and leave some love on their blogs. When you join us for the challenge you’ll have a chance to win a fabulous mystery prize from Magnolia Sweden.

My card this week features “Ski Edwin with Snowflakes” from the Christmas Story Collection. I colored Edwin with Copics and used some Stardust Stickles on the snowflakes for extra sparkle. I cut Edwin and his frame from two Quickutz Nesting Scallop dies.

My cardstock is from Bazzill and the DPs are from two Magnolia Holiday paper collections.

My daughter and I recently attended a Scrapbook Expo here in Denver and I got these awesome Tim Holtz Snowflake border and Dimensional folded Snowflake dies from the Sizzix booth. I also won a $20 gift certificate door prize from this booth and added several more dies to my collection. What fun we had! All snowflake dies were run through my Xyron sticker maker then I sprinkled MS clear glitter on the adhesive side before folding and adhering for lots of sparkle. I also added Stardust Stickles to the middles of my folded dimensional snowflakes.

I added some silver embossed sheer ribbon and a bow which is from Michaels. I finished it off with a sweet sentiment from Whimsy Stamps that was heat embossed with gorgeous blue jewel tone embossing powder. Just the right touch to match my blue cardstock and papers.

The inside of my card has similar elements from the front with a Magnolia sentiment that was also heat embossed.

I’m entering this project in the following Challenges:

Make It Monday – Anything Goes
Tilda’sTown – Winter Weather
Through the Craftroom Door – Anything Goes
Cards for Men – Anything Goes
Kaboodle Doodles – Anything Goes

I hope my card inspires you to join us this week at Midweek Magnolias. Happy crafting…

I Brake for Cornucopias

Hi, Braker Fans. I have a new project to share with you as my DT assignment for I Brake for Stamps. Now that Halloween has passed I decided it was time to make a Thanksgiving card. I love the rich colors of Fall so this is my chance to make one of the last fall cards of the year.
The stamp I used is a digi from the IBFS store called “Cornucopia.” I had tons of fun coloring this one because I used so many Copics. My design papers are from BoBunny and cardstock is Bazzill as usual. I die cut the frame for my image from Spellbinders circle and scallop dies. I wanted to keep my embellishments at a minimum so the image would really stand out.
I used Glimmer Mist to give my flowers some color which started out ivory, they’re from WOC. The jute weave trim is from Mon Ami Gabby that I purchased at a Scrap Expo last weekend in Denver. I finished the card with some Vintage Seam Binding tied in a bow from WOC.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges.

Make It Monday – Always Anything Goes

You can get this stamp and so many others at I Brake for Stamps online store. Use my coupon code SAVE10CATHY for 10% off your purchase.

See you next Thursday…
