Midweek Magnolias - Gingham

Hello, Friends and Happy Hump Day! The Midweek Magnolias Design Team has a new challenge for you and this week we want to see those lovely creations with “Gingham.” It can be paper, ribbon or fabric as long as we see gingham.

Hop over to Midweek Magnolias for inspiration from the DT’s gorgeous creations and leave some love on their blogs. When you join us for the challenge you’ll have a chance to win a fabulous Mystery Prize from Magnolia Sweden.

I chose to make my card with the adorable “Tilda with Dot Bow” from the 2013 Love Collection. You can get her at the Magnolia-licious store. She is colored with Copics and I used the no-line coloring technique. I need some practice but this was my first try with Memento Angel Pink ink. I used a fabulous template from CREAlies for my card shape. However, I increased the largest template size by using my Silhouette Cameo to create and cut the shapes for me.

I distressed a bit around my paper panels with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and my cardstock panels are from Bazzill. My flowers are from WOC and Kort & Godt. I added my American Crafts gingham ribbon across the center of my panels and a small pearl on top of the bow knot. The LOVE sentiment was created with my PC cut and distressed in a block formation.

My easel card base has similar elements from the front and I heat embossed the “To My Valentine” sentiment with pink embossing powder. I punched it out with a circle punch and distressed with Frayed Burlap for dimension. I also used foam tape to pop up my sentiment and Tilda.

I kept my Valentine card light and simple…here’s a close-up of Tilda.

Magnolia-licious Photo Inspiration

Hello, Friends. We have a new challenge up for you at Magnolia-licious and Chris has chosen a lovely Photo to inspire you.

If you follow along with us for the challenge you could have a chance to win a Mystery Surprise from Magnolia-licious.

The New “Love” Collection 2013 is in the Magnolia-licious store with beautifully colored images by the Design Teams. So stop over and take a look. They are so inspiring.

Diana added new Spring Release Memory Box dies to the store recently. Darling heart shapes for Valentines, fun flowers and frames; I can’t wait to get my hands on these. Don’t forget to check out the new “Tell a Friend” feature on Facebook and you can earn store credit when your friends shop. Plus they get a $5 instant store credit on their first order. You can find all the details HERE.

For my card this week I used three Magnolia stamps. I mounted Tilda with Lovikkamittens in a frame I got for Christmas from my friend Julie as part of my Secret Santa package. I colored Tilda with Copics and cut her out so she would hold my ticket sentiment and I added a metal turn mount to keep it closed.

Once you slide the turn mount open you can see the entire message. The Photo inspired my pink and blue color theme and wintery setting.

My designer papers are from SEI and cardstock is Bazzill. The snowflake border was stamped with the Chocolate Label from the New “Love” Collection with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and I distressed the edges of several elements with it as well. I dabbed Liquid Pearls around my blue tree branches for a snowy day effect. Then I added some lace, flowers and ribbon as the final touches to my card.

I stamped Mini Holding Tilda and colored her with Copics to complete the inside. The sentiments were all printed with my PC.

Cardstock: Bazzill
Design Paper: Berry Melody, SEI
Dies/Punches: Magnolia; Tim Holtz; Marta Stewart

Pink with Ribbons and Pearls at Midweek Magnolias

Hello, Friends and Happy Hump Day! The Midweek Magnolias Design Team is back with a new challenge for you and this week we want to see those lovely creations of “Pink with Ribbons and Pearls.”

Hop over to Midweek Magnolias for inspiration from the DT’s gorgeous creations and leave some love on their blogs. When you join us for the challenge you’ll have a chance to win a fabulous Mystery Prize from Magnolia Sweden.

I chose to make my card with the new adorable “Pink Ribbon Tilda” from the NEW 2013 Love Collection. She is colored with Copics and I gave her a pink ribbon. Very fitting for the challenge, right? She is available at the Magnolia-licious store. You can get her and receive 2% store credit with every order. Also, check out the colored images for inspiration at Magnolia-licious.

I stamped a little flourish from SEI around Tilda's frame with SU Crumbcake. My image and designer paper panels are distressed using my Tim Holtz distressing tool and SU Crumbcake ink. Then I machine stitched each one for added texture.

I tied some pretty pink ribbon in a bow with a pearl heart button on the knot. Then I added ribbon rose trim with pearl centers at the bottom of my card. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps atop a flourish heart that I cut with my Cameo. A few flowers with a Heart Swirl Doohickey die finished off the card.

The inside of my card has similar elements and distressing techniques from the front.

Here’s a close-up of my colored Tilda.

Magnolia-licious - Color Challenge

Hello, Friends. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is good to be back.

So for my first post of 2013, the Magnolia-licious Challenge DT has a new challenge up and it’s Chris’s turn to choose the challenges for January. She has provided a color inspiration of stark tones like off-white, gray, brown, beige and taupe. Other colors can be added but should support the main color theme. Here’s a lovely photo for inspiration from Design Seeds.

I used the adorable “Jingle Belle” from A Christmas Story Collection as a Snow Day theme card.

Belle is colored with Copics and I used my Colorless Blender to give her a Dappled Gray coat. I love the look and how it turned out. My designer papers are from Echo Park and I used blue as my supporting color for a frosty impression. I took a couple lengths of satin ribbon and gathered it on Scor-Tape for my textured snow bank.

I die cut several pine trees and snowflakes with a touch of Glamour Dust for sparkle and texture. My DP panels are machine stitched and I added a Snow Day sentiment from my PC on a Magnolia tag die cut. Then I finished off the card with some flowers and pearls.

Supplies
Stamps: Magnolia
Cardstock: American Crafts
Design Paper: Wintertime, Echo Park
Dies: Magnolia, Marianne Designs, Martha Stewart
Glitter: Glamour Dust, DecoArt
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts, Kort & Godt
Ribbon: JoAnn’s

I’m entering this card in the following Challenges:
